Meditation
What is meditation?
Meditation is a process of silencing the mind, allowing the cells in your body to do what they do best … heal and regenerate … without the influence of your chattering conscious and subconscious mind. Meditation is a process that everyone can learn to use, to deal with stress, illness, anxiety, worry, and many other human conditions inflicted by the life-styles we choose.
There are many different forms of meditation, transcendental meditation, prayer, Zen meditation, Taoist meditation, mindfulness meditation, and Buddhist meditation. Some methods of meditation require stillness of mind and body while others allow for deliberate controlled movement or free movement of the body. Whatever the method, the results of all types of meditation are to silence the mind through quiet contemplation and reflection. Meditation has now been accepted by science and the medical profession to have significant benefits for health ... read the article published in the Times relating to Professor Kathy Sykes on her ground breaking BBC TV programme.
